How Fairvo works

Fairvo is a cost-control app for independent restaurants, bars, and cafés. You photograph a supplier invoice; Fairvo reads every line, works out the true per-unit price behind each pack size, and shows you where that price sits against what other operators are paying for the same item.

From a photo to a per-unit price

  1. 1

    Photograph the invoice

Any supplier document: a broadline distributor invoice from Sysco, US Foods, or Performance Food Group, or a cash-and-carry receipt from Restaurant Depot, Costco Business Centre, or a local wholesaler. Multi-page invoices are fine.

  2. 2

Every line is extracted and checked

Item code, description, pack and size, quantity, unit price, extended price. Fairvo then verifies the line against the invoice's own arithmetic. If the numbers do not prove exactly one reading — an ambiguous pack, a catch-weight item with no stated weight — the line is left unresolved rather than guessed at.

  3. 3

    Totals must reconcile

Line totals, surcharges, and fees are added up and compared with the stated invoice total. If the money does not match, Fairvo says so instead of claiming the invoice balanced.

  4. 4

    Pack sizes are normalized

A 6/#10 case and a 4/1 gallon case become the same comparable number: price per pound, per ounce, per count. That is the only way two suppliers' prices can honestly be put side by side.

  5. 5

    Your price is compared

Once at least three separate operators have paid for the same item, Fairvo shows the verified range. Your own purchases never count toward your own benchmark, so the comparison is genuinely independent.

Why refusal matters more than coverage

A skipped line costs you nothing. A wrong price costs you a negotiation. Fairvo is built to refuse anything the document does not prove, which is why a benchmark you do see is one you can quote back to a sales rep.

Common questions

What is Fairvo?

Fairvo is a mobile app for independent restaurants, bars, and cafés that turns photographed supplier invoices into line-by-line cost data. It extracts every line, normalizes pack sizes to a comparable per-unit price, tracks price changes over time, and compares what you paid with prices other operators have paid for the same item.

Which suppliers does Fairvo support?

Broadline distributors such as Sysco, US Foods, and Performance Food Group, and cash-and-carry sellers such as Restaurant Depot, Costco Business Centre, and local or ethnic wholesalers. Fairvo reads the document itself, so it is not limited to a fixed list of vendors.

How does Fairvo know the price is right?

Every line is checked against the invoice's own arithmetic. If quantity, pack size, and extended price do not prove exactly one interpretation, Fairvo leaves the line unresolved rather than guessing. Invoice totals must reconcile before the invoice is accepted.

Where do the comparison prices come from?

They come from real invoices uploaded by other Fairvo operators. A benchmark is only shown once at least three separate operators have paid for that item, and your own purchases never count toward your own benchmark.

Is my invoice data private?

Yes. Your invoices, your vendors, and your business are never shown to other operators. Only anonymous, aggregated price ranges are shared, and only once enough independent operators have contributed.
